THE PROJECT
The Brief
Our clients in leafy Surbiton instructed us to build a single-storey rear extension in London Stock face brickwork, incorporating modern aluminium external doors and a window — and to open up the ground floor into a sociable, flexible family space.
BACKGROUND
The Challenge
The original design called for a solid face-brickwork gable end under the roof line, which risked leaving the new space darker than it deserved to be.
Before
OUR APPROACH
Bradley’s Solution
We suggested a well-placed gable window in place of the solid brickwork gable end to flood the new space with natural light — a small design change with a big impact, delivered alongside the London Stock brick extension and aluminium glazing.
The Build
Once the extension was in place, we installed beautiful hardwood herringbone flooring throughout the ground floor, fitted a set of telescopic doors and refurbished the kitchen.
The Finished Results
The result is a stunning open-plan ground floor that can be conveniently partitioned with the telescopic doors whenever the need arises for a cosy, closed-off living room.
OUTCOME
The Results
The project delivered a light-filled rear extension in characterful London Stock face brickwork, improved with a consultative gable-window upgrade to bring in extra natural light. To complete the transformation, we installed hardwood herringbone flooring throughout the ground floor, refurbished the kitchen, and added telescopic doors so the open-plan space can be comfortably partitioned into a cosy, closed-off living room whenever needed.
