THE PROJECT
The Brief
Simon and Sunita wanted a more open-plan way of living. Their existing galley kitchen made it difficult to be sociable, and the disjointed layout of the kitchen and reception rooms meant that even when they were both at home, they often felt separated by doors and divided spaces.
The goal was simple: more space, more character, and a home that let them spend everyday time together — cooking, relaxing, and enjoying the garden — rather than living in different rooms.
BACKGROUND
The Challenge
The existing ground floor worked against them: a galley kitchen cut off from the reception rooms meant everyday life happened in separate spaces. The extension also needed to feel like their home — not just bigger, but more connected — and they needed to feel a genuine connection with the team working in their house, with people who would be respectful and present if anything needed adjusting after completion.

The kitchen and reception rooms were disconnected from one another, forcing the couple apart during cooking, chores and downtime.
OUR APPROACH
Bradley’s Solution
After doing their due diligence, Simon and Sunita instructed us to carry out a large kitchen extension and alterations to the ground floor of their welcoming Epsom home to create the open-plan space they were missing. Central to the design were wide bifold doors to the garden and a layout that would let them be in different zones while still feeling together.
The Build
We loved bringing the couple’s plans to fruition — every day on site was great fun thanks to Simon and Sunita’s cheerful and jovial nature. From the couple’s perspective, what mattered most throughout was the joined-up feel of the experience: a team that communicated clearly, worked respectfully in their home, and stayed involved beyond completion with checks and support if anything needed tweaking.
The Finished Results
The finished space is open, bright and genuinely sociable — with the kitchen now connected to the rest of the ground floor and the garden beyond, so Simon and Sunita can cook, relax and host without being shut away in separate rooms.
OUTCOME
The Results
For Simon and Sunita, the project delivered exactly what they wanted day to day: a large kitchen extension and a reworked ground floor that replaces a separated, door-filled layout with open-plan living. Instead of one person being shut away in the galley kitchen, they can now share the space — cooking, chatting, and enjoying a glass of wine while still feeling connected — and the garden-facing bifold doors bring light in and make the whole home feel more spacious, relaxed, and together.
